Miscellany:
My background includes IT, consulting, training, software implementation and support. I’ve worked for numerous firms large and small.
I began computing on an IBM 1401, which I can sum up by saying that to truly appreciate an operating system you have to have been one. In addition to mainframes I worked with many systems from the early 80s on: PCs, Macs, the major UNIX players and minicomputers. Along the way I’ve been a Network Administrator, Project Manager, Client Services Manager, and worn many other hats.
Numerous jobs in software implementation, consulting and support across large organizations provided practical, real-world experience. This varied technical background provides a wide variety of application, systems, and business experience.

At work I’m Windows-based. At home I’m primarily Mac-based; I run VMWare Fusion with Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 RC on two virtual machines.
I’ve written about my August ‘07 24-inch iMac 2.8GHz, my January ‘08 MacBook 2.2GHz, and my Time Capsule 500GB and Airport Express. More recently I moved to an October ‘08 unibody MacBook. I also have one iPhone 3GS, two original EDGE iPhones, an iPod touch, and two other iPods in the house.
