Daring Fireball: Where’s Adobe’s Bento?

But where’s Adobe’s “Bento” for bitmap and vector image editing for the Mac? The Bentos in this space are coming from indie developers with apps like Acorn, Pixelmator, Lineform, and Opacity.

Good observation by Gruber at Daring Fireball (link above).

Adobe (or their fans) might say Photoshop Elements is their “Bento”, but that would miss the thrust of Gruber’s point. PE is every bit as “old and cross-platform” as Photoshop is. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but it’s certainly not “starting over” on the Mac. It feels nothing like a Mac app.

Adobe ignores the Acorn and Pixelmator’s of the world at their peril.
